431 Mr. Kehoe asked the Minister for the Environment, Heritage and Local Government the reason the proposals for a new fire station (details supplied) in County Carlow have not been advanced to date; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [32316/04]

A proposal from Carlow County Council for approval in principle to a new fire station at Tullow is with my Department. This proposal will be considered in the context of the fire services capital programme having regard to the council's priorities and the competing demands nationally for fire services capital investment. A decision will issue to the council in due course.
