727 Mr. McGuinness asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform if an application by a person (details supplied) in County Kilkenny to stay here on humanitarian grounds will be expedited. [1210/05]
Amharc ar fhreagraThis person arrived in the State on 31 July 2003 and applied for asylum. His application was, in turn, considered by the Office of the Refugee Applications Commissioner and the Refugee Appeals Tribunal, both of which considered that he did not meet the criteria for recognition as a refugee. The recommendations of both bodies were communicated to the person concerned. In accordance with section 17(1) of the Refugee Act 1996, as amended, my Department will be in contact with this person, by letter, in the coming days to inform him as to his current position in the State.
