85 Mr. Eamon Ryan asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Health and Children her views on whether we need regulation of complementary and alternative medicines to deal with those persons who refer to themselves as allergists; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [4174/05]
Amharc ar fhreagraA national working group was established in May 2003 to advise on future measures for strengthening the regulatory environment for complementary therapists and is expected to report in 2005. I will review the position in the light of the recommendations of this report. In the meantime it is, of course, the personal responsibility of every individual practitioner providing health care services to the public to ensure that they are trained and qualified to the level required to work safely within their area of competence.
