131 Mr. Kenny asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Health and Children if she has received correspondence from a person (details supplied) in County Galway in respect of the provision of a Comhairle report on neurosurgery with particular reference to the western neurosurgery campaign; if she has received this report; when the report will be published; and if she will make a statement on the matter. Shortly after taking the appointment as Minister for Health and Children I met with members of the western neurosurgery campaign. They outlined their case to me for the establishment of a regional neurosurgical unit in the west. I understand that the western neurosurgery campaign also had an opportunity to put its case to the committee established by Comhairle na nOspidéal to examine the future development of neurosurgical services in Ireland. My Department has been informed that this committee is in the process of completing its report.
