Moynihan-Cronin asked the Minister for Foreign Affairs his views on the proposed appointment of a person (details supplied) as United States Ambassador to the United Nations, particularly in view of his previously expressed views on the UN; and if he will make a statement on the matter. The appointment of a permanent representative to the United Nations in New York is a matter for the member in question and the United Nations as the host authority. It is not the practice of the Government to comment on diplomatic appointments of other states.
