375 Aengus Ó Snodaigh asked the Minister for Education and Science the status of the application by a school (details supplied) in Dublin 8 for major capital funding for the building of a new school; and the reason it has not progressed to band 1. [16527/05]
Amharc ar fhreagraThe proposed building project at the school referred to by the Deputy has been assessed in accordance with the published prioritisation criteria and the project is being considered in the context of the schools building and modernisation programme. The project has been assigned a band 2 priority rating, as it does not meet the criteria to qualify for a band 1 rating. To merit a band 1 rating, a project must meet one of the following criteria: serving a rapidly developing area where either there is no existing school or where existing provision is unable to meet the demand for places; the provision of specialist accommodation urgently required for children with special needs such as autism, speech and language impairment, severe and profound intellectual impairment etc.; addressing the needs of schools with serious structural issues; and providing accommodation post-rationalisation.
