559 Mr. Naughten asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the amount of expenditure which has been allocated by her Department to research and development activities each year from 1997 to date; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [22602/05]
Amharc ar fhreagraSince 1997 my Department's expenditure on research and development activities amounted to €865.88 million. This includes a total provision of €716.37 million by my Department for Teagasc — excluding pension provisions and capital expenditure grants — towards its ongoing programme of agricultural education, research and training.
