807 Mr. J. Higgins asked the Minister for the Environment, Heritage and Local Government if he will meet with the Cork Harbour Alliance for a Safe Environment to discuss its concerns on the proposed building of a toxic waste incinerator in Ringaskiddy, County Cork. [22539/05]
Amharc ar fhreagraI refer to the reply to Questions Nos. 466 and 477 of 10 May, 2005, in which I confirmed that I had received invitations from Cork Harbour Alliance for a Safe Environment to meet with it to discuss proposals for a hazardous waste incinerator in Ringaskiddy, County Cork. As I indicated then, and as my office has informed the group, I have not considered it appropriate to meet with it because the proposal is the subject of planning and licensing processes which are statutorily independent and in which, except in the case of heritage issues, the Minister for the Environment, Heritage and Local Government must not intervene.
