346 Mr. Connaughton asked the Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment if a person who has worked three days a week for twenty years and has had to retire due to ill health is entitled to redundancy; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [26411/05]
Amharc ar fhreagraIll health alone is not a valid reason for redundancy. If, however, a redundancy situation existed in the employment at the time the person left his position, it would be open to the employer to make the person redundant. A redundant employee would be entitled to receive a statutory lump sum payment of two weeks' pay per year of service based on the following criteria; age, length of service in the employment, gross weekly wage up to a ceiling of €600 per week plus a bonus week.
