The Deputy's question relates to the management and delivery of health and personal social services, which are the responsibility of the Health Service Executive under the Health Act 2004. Accordingly, my Department has requested the parliamentary affairs division of the executive to arrange to have this matter investigated and to have a reply issued directly to the Deputy.

Michael Noonan

Ceist:

231 Mr. Noonan asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Health and Children her plans to establish a sexual assault treatment unit in Limerick; if her attention has been drawn to the fact that at present persons who are victims of sexual assault in the mid-west region have to travel to Cork for forensic assessment; and if she will make a statement on the matter. A review of the sexual assault treatment services has been under way in recent months. I understand that the committee set up to carry out the review has recently completed its task and I look forward to receiving its report in the coming weeks. A decision will be made on sexual assault treatment services when I have been fully apprised of the committee's findings.
