Amharc ar fhreagraA formal decision on Government representation at St. Patrick's Day celebrations overseas has yet to be taken. In deciding on ministerial travel commitments, the Government will seek to maximise opportunities for showcasing Ireland as a world class economy and tourism destination. The St. Patrick's Day festival offers a unique opportunity for Ministers to promote modern Ireland and to enhance our links with Irish people and friends of Ireland around the world, particularly in the economic and business spheres.
The special opportunity, unique to Ireland, that the occasion provides for direct and detailed dialogue with the President of the United States and his Administration, and also key players on Capitol Hill, is exceptionally valued by the Government.
