330 Mr. Ferris asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if farmers involved in the early retirement scheme, who have contracted ten-year leases, will be allowed to change the lease when the ten year period elapses. [11587/06]
Amharc ar fhreagraWhere a person's participation in the early retirement scheme has ceased, because he or she has either completed ten years in the scheme or has reached the maximum age to which the early retirement pension can be paid, it is open to that person to lease his or her land to any party he or she wishes irrespective of whether that party is an eligible farming transferee or not. If the term of the lease extends beyond the date a person's participation in the scheme ends, my Department no longer has any involvement in the matter at that stage and the revocation of such a lease would be a private matter between the lessor and lessee.
