129 Mr. Broughan asked the Minister for Education and Science when she expects to put in place a comprehensive database of primary school pupils based on PPS numbers; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [13470/06]
Amharc ar fhreagraMy Department is developing a primary pupil database which will monitor the progression of individuals through the education system. The database will be a very useful tool for the Department in evaluating the effectiveness of educational initiatives and I am anxious that it be developed as soon as is practicable. However, the project must be developed carefully to ensure that the final product meets the needs both of schools and of the Department.
