243 Mr. Howlin asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the status of an application for permission to live and work here, by virtue of marriage to an Irish citizen and parentage of an Irish born child, of a person (details supplied) in County Wexford; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Amharc ar fhreagraOfficials in my Department have recently corresponded with the person in question in order to further process her application for permission to remain in the State on the basis of marriage to an Irish national. The case is currently under active consideration. A decision will be made when all the circumstances relevant to the case have been fully considered. It should be noted that marriage to an Irish national does not confer an automatic right of residence in the State. It should be further noted that there is now no separate procedure to make an application for permission to remain in the State on the sole basis of parentage an Irish born child.
