Amharc ar fhreagraI am pleased to inform the Deputy that facilities for the teaching of children with autism were included in the new school building in question and are now in operation.
1749 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Education and Science the action she has taken to facilitate the operation of the special autism unit at a school (details supplied) in County Kildare; when the unit will become fully operational; if staffing and other outstanding issues have been fully resolved; and if she will make a statement on the matter. I have requested that the National Council for Special Education (NCSE) formally submit to my Department an up to date report on the situation with recommendations on how to proceed.
