Amharc ar fhreagraDepo Provera (medroxyprogesterone acetate) has been authorised as a contraceptive medicinal product in Ireland since 1996. The Irish Medicines Board considers that the overall benefit/risk profile for Depo Provera is favourable, in the context of its recommended use. Benefit/risk assessment for specific patients must of course also be considered on an individual basis, taking account of any relevant medical history, risk factors etc. The Board will continue to review the safety information in relation to Depo Provera and all other medicinal products authorised for use in Ireland and will take appropriate regulatory action as necessary.
