195 Mr. G. Mitchell asked the Minister for Social and Family Affairs if he will review the case of persons (details supplied) in Dublin 10 for rent supplement; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [9198/07]
Amharc ar fhreagraThe supplementary welfare allowance scheme, which includes rent supplement, is administered on behalf of my Department by the Health Service Executive. It provides for the payment of a weekly or monthly supplement in respect of rent to eligible persons in the State whose means are insufficient to meet their accommodation needs. The Health Service Executive has advised that it has terminated payment of a rent supplement in this case as the person in question advised the Executive that he would be commencing full-time employment in February 2007. The Executive has further advised that the person concerned should contact the community welfare officer dealing with the case so that any possible continued entitlement to rent supplement can be determined. The community welfare officer will also advise him about any other payments he may be entitled to, such as family income supplement.
