230 Mr. Gormley asked the Minister for Health and Children the cost of providing the extra public acute beds required to deal with the accident and emergency crisis and waiting list problems; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [13676/07]
Amharc ar fhreagraThe Health Service Executive (HSE) is undertaking a review of acute bed capacity requirements for Ireland until the year 2020. This will enable the HSE to plan for future needs based on evidence and international best practice. The review will: Identify the acute bed capacity needs to the year 2020; identify the number and type of acute beds required; identify capital and revenue cost implications; advise on to how to meet the identified need, including timing and feasibility.
