1182 Deputy Brian O’Shea asked the Minister for Communications, Energy and Natural Resources the position regarding the €5,000,000 hardship fund for coastal communities reliant on commercial salmon fishing; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [20519/07]
Amharc ar fhreagraOfficials from my Department and the Department of Community, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs, are in discussion about arrangements for the management of the community support scheme, the focus of which should primarily be those communities where commercial salmon fishing has been a well-established activity and where its withdrawal demonstrably impacts on the economic and social fabric of the area.
Details of the scheme are being finalised with a view to publication in the near future.
