1191 Deputy Arthur Morgan asked the Minister for Communications, Energy and Natural Resources the date on which he plans to introduce co-firing at each of the three peat stations with biomass; and the percentage of biomass that will be used. [19933/07]
Amharc ar fhreagraThe Government has set a target of 30% co-firing at each of the three peat stations with biomass by 2015, which will reduce greenhouse gas emissions from those three stations by 900,000 tonnes per annum and will also extend the life of the stations. I expect Bord na Móna and ESB to bring forward their proposals for progressively achieving this target, together with their analysis of the related challenges and barriers to be addressed in delivery.
