217 Deputy Ruairí Quinn asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Finance if he will confirm receipt of representations regarding Section 469 TCA; and if he will include within the definition of hospital, as he is empowered to do, an institute which would meet the requirements of persons (details supplied); and if he will make a statement on the matter. I can confirm that I have received representations regarding the health expenses relief scheme as provided for by section 469 of the Taxes Consolidation Act 1997.

The matter to which the Deputy refers is currently being considered, in consultation with the Department of Health and Children, in accordance with the provisions of the legislation.
