112 Deputy Joe McHugh asked the Minister for Transport if he will clarify his Department’s position on decentralisation; and his views on whether the centralising of jobs from peripheral areas such as Malin and Valentia to Drogheda complies with the Government policy of decentralisation. [33088/07]
Amharc ar fhreagraA total of 80 posts have relocated or are awaiting relocation under the decentralisation programme. This number includes 35 civil servants from my Department who have relocated to new Departments. At present, there are 17 posts in each of the centres at Malin Head and Valentia. Discussions with staff in these centres are expected to commence shortly. Relocation of staff will be on a voluntary basis in accordance with Government policy.
