346 Deputy Tom Sheahan asked the Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries and Food if he will make funding available for the upgrading of the Coolnagalach pier outside Kenmare; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [35345/07]
Amharc ar fhreagraThe Pier at Coolnagalach is the property of Kerry County Council and responsibility for its repair and upkeep rests with the Local Authority in the first instance. My Department does, however, co-fund maintenance and development works with various Local Authorities subject to the availability of Exchequer funding and overall national priorities. I have recently invited applications for funding under the 2008 Fishery Harbours and Coastal Infrastructure Programme and any application received from Kerry County Council for the above location will be given due consideration subject to availability of exchequer funding and overall national priorities.
