152 Deputy Ciarán Lynch asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Finance his Department’s forecast for the expected level of economic growth for the full year of 2008; the way this compares with the forecast he gave in his Budget 2008 speech in December 2007; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Amharc ar fhreagraMy Department's economic forecasts have not changed from those published on Budget day, when GDP growth of 3.0 per cent was projected for this year (GNP growth of 2.8 per cent).
153 Deputy Bernard J. Durkan asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Finance if he is satisfied that the targets identified at Budget 2008 in respect of economic growth and inflation throughout 2008 are expected to be achieved in each quarter; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [2336/08]
Amharc ar fhreagraOn Budget day, 5 December 2007, my Department projected a GDP growth rate of 3.0 per cent and a GNP growth rate of 2.8 per cent for this year. Inflation on a harmonised basis was projected to rise by 2.4 per cent this year. These forecasts have not been changed.
As is the normal practice, all of these figures refer to the annual average rate of increase. My Department, in line with most institutions, does not publish quarterly projections.
