264 Deputy Pat Breen asked the Minister for Health and Children if, in conjunction with the Health Service Executive, she is satisfied that the level of 24 hour ambulance cover is adequate to meet the needs of the entire geographical area of west Clare; if she has plans to extend the service; and if she will make a statement on the matter. Operational responsibility for the management and delivery of health and personal social services is a matter for the Health Service Executive and funding for all health services has been provided as part of its overall Vote. Therefore, the Executive is the appropriate body to consider the particular issue raised by the Deputy. My Department has requested the Parliamentary Affairs Division of the Executive to arrange to have the matter investigated and to have a reply issued directly to the Deputy.

Michael Kennedy

Ceist:

265 Deputy Michael Kennedy asked the Minister for Health and Children the number of ambulances operating in the Swords, Skerries and Balbriggan areas; the reason for the uneven distribution of ambulance services within the Dublin area; if north Dublin will be allocated more resources for the ambulance service in view of its growing population; and if she will make a statement on the matter.
