Ceisteanna (259)

John Deasy

Ceist:

329 Deputy John Deasy asked the Minister for Transport his views on recent reports that there are over 8,500 persons over the age of 60 years with provisional licences many of whom are concerned that they will not be able to take a driving test; if he has plans to assist people in this category bearing in mind the lack of public transport in rural areas; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Freagraí scríofa

Under the Road Safety Authority Act 2006 (Conferral of Functions) Order 2006 (S.I. No 477 of 2006) responsibility for driving testing and licensing was transferred to the Road Safety Authority in September 2006. The arrangements in relation to driving tests and licensing are therefore a matter for that authority.
