275 Deputy Thomas P. Broughan asked the Minister for Transport the number of service and rest areas planned for the inter-urban and national road network here; the estimated completion date of each of these service areas; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [29037/08]
Amharc ar fhreagraAs I stated in a response to a similar Question put to me on 17th June last, I have responsibility for overall policy and funding in relation to the national roads programme element of Transport 21. The detailed planning, design and implementation of national road projects, including the provision of service areas on or near these routes and their precise locations, is a matter for the National Roads Authority (NRA) under the Roads Act 1993, as amended by the Roads Act 2007, in conjunction with the relevant local authorities concerned.
