328 Deputy Lucinda Creighton asked the Minister for Transport the severance packages for each retiring staff member in his Department over the past three years; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [39546/08]
Amharc ar fhreagraUpon retirement, rather than a severance package, staff are entitled to the payment of a lump sum based on their number of years service up to a maximum of 40 years. In the period 2006 to 2008 a total of 38 staff of my Department have retired. This includes early, ill-health and preserved retirements.
The total amount paid in lump sums to staff retiring from my Department per year is as follows:
2006 (10 Officers): €644,439.76
2007 (15 Officers): €1,098,853.72
2008 (13 Officers to date): €629,387.52.
