255 Deputy Ciarán Cuffe asked the Minister for Health and Children the estimated spend on mileage allowances for her Department in 2007; the number of claimants in respect of categories (details supplied) under which mileage is paid; the total number of claimants; and the total spend on same. The amount paid by my Department in 2007 in respect of official motor travel in accordance with the rates approved by the Department of Finance was €189,231. The breakdown of this figure is as follows:
