190 Deputy Róisín Shortall asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the guidance and direction provided to peace commissioners in respect of their responsibilities; the procedures in place to ensure that this information is updated in line with current legislation; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Peace Commissioners are appointed under section 88 of the Courts of Justice Act, 1924. On appointment Peace Commissioners are issued with a guidance manual explaining their role and duties. This manual is updated, from time to time, to take account of changes in legislation.
