167 Deputy Bernard J. Durkan asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform when consideration of an application for citizenship will be concluded in the case of a person (details supplied) in County Dublin; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [45883/08]
Amharc ar fhreagraAn application for a certificate of naturalisation from the person referred to in the Deputy's question was received in the Citizenship Section of my Department on 20 August 2003. On examination of the application it was determined that the person concerned did not meet the statutory residency requirements as set out in the Irish Nationality and Citizenship Act 1956, as amended. A letter informing the applicant of this was issued on 25 October 2005. It is open to the individual concerned to lodge a new application if and when she is in a position to meet the statutory residency requirements.
