260 Deputy Christy O’Sullivan asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform when fixed speed cameras will be operational here; and if a decision has been taken as to the private operator that will manage the system. [6977/09]
Amharc ar fhreagraIn accordance with EU Directives, national public procurement procedures and relevant legislation, An Garda Síochána engaged in a procurement process for the provision and operation of safety cameras. As a result, a preferred supplier has been selected, and the contract discussion phase of the procurement process has commenced, with the aim of entering into a contract with the preferred supplier at the earliest opportunity. Every effort is being made to proceed with this project as speedily as possible. Until the contract discussions are concluded, it is not possible to indicate a specific timescale for the project, but it is expected that roll out will commence in the course of 2009.
