Ceist:

59 Deputy Finian McGrath asked the Minister for Finance if the cap on executive pay in the banking sector will apply to the position of chief executive of the National Treasury Management Agency, which is reported to carry a remuneration package of €980,000; the remuneration package for this position in 2008; and his views on whether it is appropriate that the salary of some individual public servants such as those in the NTMA who earned an average of €115,000 in 2008 should be kept secret from the public. The remuneration packages of all National Treasury Management Agency staff, including that of its CEO, are negotiated on an individual contract basis and are confidential. According to the National Treasury Management Agency's 2007 Annual Report — their most recent Annual Report — total salaries and bonuses amounted to €16.4 million in 2007.

The administration accounts (including pay and pensions, etc.) of the NTMA are audited by the Comptroller & Auditor General each year.
