369 Deputy Niall Collins asked the Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries and Food if he has requested all chairpersons and members of boards and agencies under the aegis of his Department to take a reduction in their salary, fee or allowance; when this request was made to take effect; the amount or reduction requested; the boards and agencies which have complied with the request; when the remainder propose to comply; and if he will make a statement on the matter. In line with the Government decision of 5 May 2009 my Department instructed the relevant State bodies under its aegis to reduce the fees payable to their non–executive chairpersons and board members by 10% with effect from 1 May 2009.

The following bodies under the aegis of my Department have confirmed that they have implemented the required reduction in fees from 1 May 2009 — Aquaculture Licences Appeal Board, Bord Bia, Bord Iascaigh Mhara, Coillte Teo, Irish National Stud Co Ltd, Marine Institute, the National Milk Agency and Teagasc. Fees are not payable in the case of the remaining bodies under the aegis of my Department, viz., Veterinary Council of Ireland and the Sea Fisheries Protection Authority.
