76 Deputy Ciarán Lynch asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment the recommendations of the Business Regulation Forum which have been implemented by her; the progress made in implementing other recommendations; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [35061/09]
Amharc ar fhreagraIn April 2007 the Business Regulation Forum made one recommendation: that an administrative burden reduction programme for business should be initiated in Ireland. The programme was to have the following characteristics: (a) a prioritised approach should be adopted i.e. the heaviest burdens should be reduced first; (b) the Standard Cost Model should be used to measure the prioritised administrative burdens; (c) there should be a target; and (d) there should be a clear time-frame for delivery.
In March 2008 the Government set a 25% target to reduce administrative burdens on business arising from regulations by 2012. My Department is currently coordinating the project across Government.
