Ceisteanna (279)

Ciaran Lynch

Ceist:

274 Deputy Ciarán Lynch asked the Minister for the Environment, Heritage and Local Government his views on making provisions to enable the buy out of any clawback without having to sell the property when current market price is at or about the original affordable price; and if he will make a statement on the matter. The primary purpose of the clawback regime is to prevent short-term profit-taking on the resale of affordable homes.

At present there is no legislation providing for the discharge of the clawback while the homeowner remains in residence and I have no plans to alter the claw-back arrangements for owners of homes already purchased under the existing affordable housing schemes.
