Ceisteanna (216)

Seán Barrett

Ceist:

295 Deputy Seán Barrett asked the Minister for Health and Children the reason 80% of children under five years of age referred to five Linn Dara child and adolescent mental health services in counties Dublin and Kildare for autism spectrum disorder assessment in the first ten months after the Disability Act 2005 became law were considered inappropriate; the further reason the aforementioned children were denied their entitlement to ASD assessment, in accordance with Part 2 of the Disability Act 2005, which guarantees children with disabilities under five years of age an independent assessment of their health and education needs, and a service statement identifying the services to be provided; and if she will make a statement on the matter.
