Ceisteanna (105)

Frank Feighan

Ceist:

105 Deputy Frank Feighan asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment if her attention has been drawn to the fact that a spouse of a public servant that worked as a home maker all their lives has no automatic right or entitlement to part of their spouse’s pension, whether they are the spouse of a garda, and so on; and the steps she will take to address this problem. Public service pension schemes are a matter for the Minister for Finance. My Department has no responsibility in this area other than to operate the relevant schemes in respect of its staff in accordance with the regulations set down by the Minister for Finance.
