Ceisteanna (435)

Finian McGrath

Ceist:

569 Deputy Finian McGrath asked the Minister for the Environment, Heritage and Local Government if he will have an investigation made into the dispute regarding allegations of inappropriate housing allocations in Dublin City Council; if he will request Dublin City Council to publish the council’s audit committee report. Housing allocations are made by a local authority in accordance with an allocation scheme, the making of which is a reserved function of the authority. The legislation governing local authority allocations precludes ministerial involvement in the allocation of housing in individual cases. I understand from Dublin City Council that the matter in question is subject to ongoing examination. Publication of an audit committee report is a matter for the local authority concerned.
