296 Deputy Joe Carey asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform his views on the possibility of defining the rank of community garda officers within the Garda; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [9149/10]
Amharc ar fhreagraThe new Garda National Model of Community Policing aims at building upon and enhancing good community policing practice. In addition to the extension of community policing teams to all Garda Districts under this model, however, all Gardaí will continue to have a role to play in addressing community policing issues as and when the need arises. There are no proposals to create a separate rank of community garda.
