212 Deputy Caoimhghín Ó Caoláin asked the Minister for Finance the plans that the Office of Public Works has to invest in the refurbishment of Carndonagh courthouse, County Donegal; and when the OPW anticipate that the courthouse will be open for business again. [12503/10]
Amharc ar fhreagraThe Courts Service is responsible for the provision and maintenance of Courthouses. The Office of Public Works acts as agent for the Courts Service. Plans were prepared for the refurbishment of Carndonagh Courthouse last year. However, in light of the economic downturn, it was not possible to proceed with this project. In order to prepare the plans, it was necessary to carry out some investigative works at the Courthouse and the building had to be closed to facilitate these works. I understand that the Courts Service is considering the reopening of the Courthouse at present.
