235 Deputy Willie Penrose asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform his plans to introduce paternity leave along the lines available in other European countries; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [16849/10]
Amharc ar fhreagraThe question of the introduction of a statutory entitlement to paternity leave was examined in 2002 by a Working Group, membership of which included Government Departments and the Social Partners. The Working Group could not reach consensus on the issue. However, my Department has continued to examine the issue as part of an overall review of maternity, parental and paternity leave and has received submissions on this from the Social Partners and other interested parties.
