62 Deputy James Reilly asked the Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries and Food the position regarding the proposed Forestry Bill; the legal issues still to be addressed; when he will be in a position to publish the Bill; the timetable he expects to enact this legislation; and if he will make a statement on the matter. The Government has approved the heads of the Forestry Bill, and discussions are continuing between my Department and the Office of the Attorney General with a view to finalizing the text. There is no specified timetable for its enactment. It would be my intention to introduce the Bill in the Houses of the Oireachtas as soon as possible.
