400 Deputy Seán Sherlock asked the Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries and Food the position regarding the milk quota new entrants scheme; if applications are being expedited in view of the fact that the start date for the scheme was 1 April; and if he will make a statement on the matter. The closing date for receipt of applications to the New Entrants Scheme was in fact 9 April 2010. A total of 82 applications was referred to the independent assessment group for adjudication. The group has recently concluded its deliberations and I hope to be in a position to make an announcement shortly.
