Amharc ar fhreagraI can advise the Deputy that the Appeals Officer in the Employment Permits Section of my Department has been in contact with the employer requesting additional original documentation in relation to the case concerned. On receipt of this information a decision will be made on this appeal. Due to a necessary re-prioritisation of resources within the Department, a significant number of staff in the Employment Permits area were re-deployed to the Redundancy Payments area, where there is a strong need for additional resources to process payments to those who have lost their jobs. This has resulted in delays in the processing of some permit types and appeals. However, the Employment Permits Section is continuing its efforts to try and reduce this backlog within the limits of existing resource allocations.
