159 Deputy Martin Ferris asked the Minister for Defence if he will confirm that the person (details supplied) named and implicated with regard to arms sales in the Seychelles has been suspended from their duties in the weapons wing, which buys weapons for the Defence Forces, pending the outcomes of these investigations. 160 Deputy Martin Ferris asked the Minister for Defence if persons (details supplied) who were serving members of the Defence Forces at the time of alleged arms sales to the Seychelles have been suspended from their duties pending the outcome of these investigations. [25973/10]

I propose to take Questions Nos. 159 and 160 together.

As I indicated to the Deputy in reply to Parliamentary Question No. 274 of 9 June 2010, I have been advised by the military authorities that they are conducting an investigation into the matters referred to. In these circumstances it would be inappropriate for me to comment on the matters until this investigation has been concluded.
