144 Deputy Ruairí Quinn asked the Minister for Finance when he expects the remit of the Freedom of Information Act 1997 to be extended to include the vocational education committees; if he will note that progress on this issue has been repeatedly delayed for 13 years; when the relevant legislation will be published; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Officials of my Department have been working on extending the remit of the Freedom of Information Acts in a number of areas including that of the Vocational Education Committees. I hope to seek Government approval later this year for the legislative process which will bring these bodies under the Act.
