153 Deputy Enda Kenny asked the Minister for Justice and Law Reform the number of staff employed at the Garda information services centre in County Mayo over the past three years; the key performance indicators being used to assess the level of service provision at this centre; his plans to expand this service; and if he will make a statement on the matter. The information provided to me by the Garda authorities on the number of staff employed at the GISC in County Mayo as at the 31st May 2007 to the 31st May 2010 is set out in the following table.

Performance indicators for the GISC include:

80% of calls answered within 20 seconds

Average call length of less than 7 minutes

Less than 5% of calls abandoned

Capture 90% of incidents nationally

A review is currently being undertaken with a view to identifying the potential for the further extension of the remit of GISC.
