865 Deputy Brian Hayes asked the Minister for Transport the total number of offices and properties rented by his Department; their location and use; if his Department is occupying all of the office space currently rented, if not the location of such office space and the length of time that this space has been unoccupied; and if he will make a statement on the matter. The Office of Public Works is responsible for the procurement of office (and other) accommodation required for my Department and accordingly they deal with any rental or leasing issues arising in those properties.
I am informed by the OPW that they undertake regular monitoring of space allocated to Departments to ensure that it is used to the optimum capacity in line with good principles of property management.
