309 Deputy Frank Feighan asked the Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Innovation the amount of funding spent in 2009 and 2010 by his Department on Irish language training for public servants; the number of persons that participated in Irish language training courses; and if he will make a statement on the matter. My Department is committed to building on the existing levels of knowledge and competency in Irish language skills currently available within the Department. In accordance with Section 11 of the Official Languages Act 2003, my Department has developed an Irish Language Scheme, which is currently with the Department of the Community, Equality and Gaeltacht Affairs for approval. The Scheme sets out a range of services which my Department will deliver in the Irish language to its customers and staff.
